1 Month!

Can you believe it Dexter is already one month today? He is doing great. He loves baths, eating and sleeping. He is not a big fan of getting his diaper changed. The poor guy has a sensitvie tush like his sister and has already started with reoccuring bum rashes. So that is probably why he doesn't like being changed to much.
He is becoming more alert everyday. We have been working on his tummy time, focusing and following with his eyes.
Elliana LOVES being a big sis. She is very very helpful and calls baby brother HER baby. It is pretty funny. She is a independent mini adult already. Elliana also started a new daycare two days a week. She LOVES it, has connected with the kids and already runs the place. She is a clown and social butterfly.
It is a hard adjustment of change since we LOVE Ms. Karen in Vegas so much. Thursday after I picked up Elliana she then wanted to go to Ms. Karen's. I welled up a bit explaining Ms. Karen was far away. We miss her and all our Vegas peeps LOTS.
Other than that we are just getting ready for Christmas.

Dexter John - 2 week check up

Dexter is thriving and doing great. He has gained weight and already gotten longer.
His stats:
Weight 8lbs 10oz
Length 20-1/2 in
Head 36-1/2

The doctor and all the nurses love little Dexter. It is always nice when other around him goo and ga over him. They love ALL his hair, is mellow demor and perfect little face. Plus two of the nurses have commented (the last visit) and remembered us because they said they really like his name! Always makes you feel good.

Updates, Updates, Updates

Now that I am back in business I can post some info about Dexter's birth, Elliana's adjustment and all that fun stuff.

First, obviously Dexter's birth went great. We have a precious new addition to the family. Congrats to my dear friend in Portland who won the "Bragging Rights" guessing game on Dexter's arrival! I don't want to jinks myself but he is a GREAT baby. Feeding great, sleeping well. A little gassy but that is all part of a newborn. We pretty much have to wake him to feed and other than getting his diaper changed he isn't fussy.

Here is a timeline of how our Thursday, November 3 went (a week ago today):

7:15a - Arrived at Hospital

8:15a - Started Pitocin at (2cm)

10:19a - Doctor Breaking Water (3cm)

11:09a - Requested Epidural (5cm)

11:17a - Received Epidural

1:00p - 8cm dilated. Dex in station 1

2:20p - Fully dilated. Dex in station 2

2:30p - Starting to push

3:43p - Dexter John Morris
8lbs 6oz, 19-3/4 in

I find myself pretty lucky, having two beautiful children and two smooth, easy, short labors.
I am feeling great. Of course some aches and pains here an there along with a bit of tiredness but overall pretty dang good. I am nursing and he is doing great. I did get just a few stitches (episiotomy) but nothing to bad (I guess that is to be expected having an eight pound baby).
We have been spoiled the last week in having Ryan's mom, Marcia stay with us. She has cooked and really helped entertain Elliana. Her help has been VERY much appreciated. Today my best bud Nicole from Las Vegas arrives and is staying over the long weekend. Then my parents arrive a week from today. To say the least we will have a lot of help and are VERY appreciative. Once December 1st comes Elli & I will be at a lost with out all the people around.
I think it is natural for most parents to worry about how there first born will adapt to the birth of their sibling. I have to say Elliana is truly an amazing BIG sister. She loves her brother tremendously and is nothing but a helping hand. I am sure there are moments to come but all that worry I had was for nothing.

Tuesday, November 8Th Dester had his first follow up appointment with the pediatrician and everything is perfect! He had already regained close to his birth weight as was at 8lbs 5oz. Most breastfeed babies take 2 weeks to regain the weight since they loose close to 10% after birth. Our next appt is November 17Th were we begin to get percentile stats.

Almost here

Angela is fully dilated and Dex is in station 2. (no clue). Doctor is on her way and the the pushing begins!!!

Update

Angela is 8cm dilated and Dexter is I. Station 1 (meaning he's dropped past the pelvic bone or something like that). All is good...

Slowly but surely

5 hours in and Angela is 5cm dilated. She is doing great and not in any pain. And for those wondering, I'm doing great too!!

All good so far...

Baby Coming Soon...

Went to the doctor today and they decided to induce me tomorrow morning. I was 2 cm dilated and completely effaced. Theya re inducing to be safe. My swelling is still pretty bad and my amniotic fluid isn't were they would like it to be. Being taht I am only 3 days from my due date the doc felt more comfortable getting this show on the road!

Still Preggers....

Four days till my due date, wonder when he will come? We had a few more votes come in so here is the FINAL list. Can't wait for baby brother, Dexter! At this point I will be happy whenever he comes but still kind of hoping for either an 11/7 or 11/11 arrival. Thanks again to all who participated!

Unlce Jason won Elliana's pool! For those who don't remember Elli was born 7/11 a day after her due date at 2:58AM and was 6lbs 10oz. Every baby is different but who knows!

Great Grandpa West's 90th Bday

I am a little behind on posting these pictures. They are from Elli's Great Grandpa West's 90th birthday party. His birthday was Sept. 30th! Great Grandpa West is Ryan's grandfather on his mom's side. Below are pictures that have Great Grandpa & Grandma, Great Uncle Earl, 2nd Cousin Drew, Ryan (in the background) and Cousin Olivia (who just turned one this Friday, 10/14...pictures to come of her fabulous first birthday party).

As you can see Elli is a HAM and loves being a goofball. With all the fun festivities going on from birthday parties to Halloween stuff she is getting an overdose of sugar and attention. Only more to come with trick or treating, pumpkin carving, the "welcoming" of baby brother, a visit from my best bud Nicole (from Vegas), a visit from Opa & Gigi, Thanksgiving and then Christmas. OMG...she is going to go NUTS with all the fun ahead of us. Enjoy the pictures below.

36 weeks and 4 days but who's counting?

Above is the most recent ultra sound pictures I received today. The one that reads RAR is suppose to be EAR...a typo. The middle is his heart beat. He ranged from 140 bpm to 131 bpm the few times they checked it today....which are both GREAT!. The bottom pic is baby brothers face. Getting the u/s was a bit unexpected today but worth it. As you can prolly tell he is going to be born with some CHUCKY cheeks. The U/S tech was in ahh about his cheeks. Plus surprisly it appeared he had a FULL head of hair (you can't tell from these pics). Elli w/out an sign of hair for almost a year it was VERY exciting to see he has hair. NOW what color will it be? When I was born I had a mop of black hair...maybe my genes aren't as weak as I thought since Ryan's rained surpreme with Elli's looks genetically. I know some of you out there say Elli is looking more like me but I recently saw a picture of Ryan in kindergarten and ELLI and him look IDENTICAL! It is erie!

I have lost some weight and the doctor I saw today was a bit concerned about my swelling so that is why I got he ultra sounds. Everything looked great so I am fine. I found it amusing that I have been swollen like a pig since I was 14 weeks and 20 days before my due date this ONE doctor now shows concern. Funny. There are 4 doctros at the practice and I really only get a great vibe from one. Fingers crossed she delievers me. I don't love this practice (they are highly recommended) but it is hard to even compare to my OBGYN I had for Elli (she was AMAZING).

DDC continues (DADDY DAY CARE)

Ryan took his profession of Daddy Day Care or as I call it DDC to a new level today by watching our niece, Olivia (who will be 1 this Friday 10/14). Elli was so good with her cousin trying to help daddy any way she could and sooth O whenever she got upset. It was nice bonding time for Uncle Buck (with that beard)...I mean Ryan and his precious neice.
