5 Months and counting...

Here are some pictures of Dexter from this past month. Dexter is eating 3 meals a day that include rice cereal, oatmeal and various fruits/veggies, plus his formula. He is such a happy dude. Sleeps from about 7:30/8pm to 6:30/7am. Then has two long naps. I have been trying to work with him lately to sit up but he isn't quite there, soon though. He is super strong, grabs toys, reaches for things, jibber jabbers. He is right on track developmentally. When he was sick last week he got weighed and is 17lbs. He has his 6 month appt. on May 14. Then I will get all the precentiles but the doctor said Dexter is  thriving fabulously.
I have been thinking lots about Dexter's many nicknames he has these days. It is funny how nicknames come about. Example; for some reason I have always called Elli my buggy and it has turned into bug bug or just bug. She loves it and responds to it. Not sure why or how but just is! HA. Well with Dex I call him Mr. McGoo...haha...it kind of stems from all his spitting up. Elli even calles him that sometimes too. Ryan still refers to him as Sexy Dexy...we often break out in song signing our version of the LMAFO song..."His Dexy and he Knows it...wiggle, wiggle, wiggle..." I am sure you get it.  We all have our for nicknames for certain people. For instance GiGi (my mom) calls Dexter "Little Man Dex." Marcia I hear calls him "Big Guy" often. I wonder if any will stick or what others will come. I still have many college friends call me Gomes or Gomez. High School friends still call me Rangela. Kind of fun to think about with your own kids. For the record some of Ryan's nicknames I have heard are Ry Ry, Houndie and Maurce. Enjoy!

April update...

Below are some photos of this past month! We have been VERY busy! Elli had her first vist to the dentist, we enrolled her in swimming lessons, Dexter has been teething lots and had a 5 day run with a viral infection called roseola. He cut one of his front top teeth and we are patiently waiting for the other to cut any day. He is rolling over more frequently. Holding his own bottle. Elliana is so funny and gets smarter everyday. Can you believe she is going to be 4 already? Everyday she sings "happy birthday." She wants it to be her brithday so bad and has requested many times (because of commercials on TV) to go to Chuckie Cheeses. HAHA Elli will start a preschool in the fall which will run every 3 days in the mornings. She is VERY excited to start school!
A few updates my dad is back to work and doing much better. After 6 weeks or so out of work I think he was ready to go back. He still has to take medication for a while and this summer they will retest him to make sure no more blood clots have developed. He is doing great. Our dear friend Sarah suddenly lots her husband Rick April 1st. Ryan was able to make the trip to Vegas that week and be there to provide support, attend the memorial service and just be there for the entire Johnson Family (of course Sarah, Nicole, Tim, Penny, the boys, and other close freinds). It definitely has been rough not being physically close to our friends in Vegas during this time of loss. For me I lived there close to 15 yrs and for Ryan 8 yrs...they have become just as much family to us as our families in Colorado & Michigan. Plus just having to stand by and not go to Colorado instantly was rough with the situation w/ my dad. Seems everyone knows we love them dearly, understands and knows our responsiblies here.
On a brighter note my mom is retiring tomorrow! WAHOO. I am so so excited for her. She has worked so hard and has communited for many, many YEARS at least 45 minutes each way. I just couldn't be more thrilled for her. (Another wish I could go to her retirement shin dig they are throwing her). Lastly, Marcia celebrated a milestone birthday. It was in the middle of the week so we couldn't make it up there for the dinner surprise party but we skyped and was able to join in the fun for a bit. It has been a roller coaster few months and it is only April!

Easter 2012

We had a fabulous Easter weekend! We had great weather, got some yard work done, grocery shopping done, colored eggs and enjoyed Easter dinner with Jason, Nicole & Olivia.
This year was really the first year Elli I think 100% understood what easter egg hunting was all about. The Easter bunny came in the middle of the night and hid eggs. When Elli got up she was SOOOO excited. She woke up and then came to wake Ryan and up very surprised with all the eggs and the Easter basket! It was cute. For Easter dinner we enjoyed the company of Jason, Nicole & Olivia. Elli and Olivia had so much fun playing. The guys watched the Masters and the ladies just chatted. I made ham, scalloped potatoes, corn, asparagus & roll. Nicole brought some deviled eggs & cupcakes. It was yummy.
This past week Dexter had his 5 month birthday. Crazy how quickly time flies (I feel I say that in every post). He is still a happy fella. As many of you know he spits up A LOT. I have been trying all sorts of formula but none seem to help much. I have settled on Gerber's PROTECT Good Start for now. Seems to be a little less spit up but the doctors don't seem to be worried since he is gaining weight, happy and pretty much comfortable. He is super active with wiggling his arms and legs and scooting. He is very strong but isn't yet sitting up on his own. He has rolled over each way a few times but doesn't seem to interested in doing it consistantly. He is eating rice ceral along w/ fruits & veggies at night. I believe any day now he will have his two front teeth along with the two bottom teeth next to his front bottom. All four areas are very swollen and pink. He is drooling lots and has rosie cheeks. He is super super happy of course. I am very lucky! Both Elli and him are great kids! Enjoy the Easter pics. Cna't believe we got Elli into a dress, earrings in and a hair barrett in! WAHOO!
